Bulit of stone in the 14th century, the " HVALSEY CHURCH ", located south from Qaqortoq, is Greenlands biggest and best-preserved ruins from the viking-period.
(This image was taken on the 12th Sep. 2001 after celebrating a Requiem for the Two Towers in New York and the people who died there on the 11th Sept.).

My husband's paternal grandfather was from Telemark, Norway. They came to the United States through Ellis Island more than a century ago. These ruins in Greenland are a treasure! Thanks for sharing.
